Photographer Steve Gubbins to raise £200,000 for charity

Sussex photographer Steve Gubbins, whose work raised £5,000 for a single portrait at auction in a charity event at presenter Anthea Turner's home, is now bidding to reach £200,000 of fundraising for charity.

Warnham-based Steve Gubbins has raised 160,000 for charity and hopes to get nearer to his 200,000 target over the coming months as he donates his work at charity balls and events around the region.

As a cancer survivor himself, Steve is committed to helping others with disabilities and life threatening illnesses and has worked over a number of years with fundraising for a number of charities including St Catherines Hospice and Tadworth Courts Childens Trust.

Steve, who is best known for his portrait photography, was drawn to abstract forms of expression after attending an art course in Cyprus three years ago.

An object must possess form, colour and curves to create an abstract photographic image, he says. It also has to have dynamic, interesting shapes.

Steve has almost 30 years experience in photography and holds two European Kodak Gold Awards. His reputation is built on being able to capture a clients personality.

I aim to exceed peoples expectations. We listen to the customers needs and ideas to create contemporary, refreshing imagery.

Steve regularly donates a percentage of his profits to St Catherines Hospice. Steve is donating a family photographic sitting and framed portrait at many high profile fundraising auctions for The Childrens Trust such as the Mad Hatters Ball this month, a race night at Sandown Park in July and a dinner at the House of Commons.

He is pleased to be able to help contribute to the work and facilities that St Catherines Hospice and Tadworth Court in Surrey has to offer cancer suffers, children and their families.

Ruth Hasselhurst of Tadworth Court comments: Its great to see such commitment. Steve has contributed to the charity for a number of years with his exceptional photographic gifts being much appreciated by the Trust and the winners at auction have all been very pleased with their pictures.
