If you are feeling bored with the same old workout routine and are struggling to get motivated why not consider setting yourself an exercise based goal.

Set Yourself a Goal

If you are feeling bored with the same old workout routine and are struggling to get motivated why not consider setting yourself an exercise based goal.

There are plenty to choose from - you could sign up for a cycling, running, walking or triathlon event there is a host of charity and sports events going on here all the time in Sussex.
Once you have chosen your event you need to put together a training plan. There are a number of ways of doing this but I usually do a plan with my clients that involves working backwards from the event date with one week of rest to three weeks of training. It is important not to over do it and each week you should not be increasing your time or distance by more than 5 per cent to reduce the risk of injury.
Then as you head towards the event, with about four to six weeks to go, reduce the time or distance you are spending training and increase the intensity. Remember to check with your doctor before you start training if you are just starting out.
When you get to race day you should have also thought about and planned your warm up, eating pattern before, during and after the event, how you are going to pace yourself during the event, what techniques and skills you will be using. Once you have completed your goal you will feel fantastic (if a little tired)!
