More than 75 eager walkers embarked on a 10-mile sunrise walk for Winstons Wish, the charity for bereaved children, along the coast from Littlehampton to Lancing.
Some were walking to remember the life of someone special. Some were taking part as a way of giving back something to the charity which had supported them through their own familys bereavement. Others were kick-starting their new fitness regime. Whatever their reasons the early start wasnt enough to dampen spirits as the lively crowd set off in darkness with glow sticks round their necks at 6am from The Windmill Centre in Littlehampton.
When the sun rose the beautiful weather kept walkers motivated to reach the end of the route in Lancing. The record breaking amount of participants made the event an immense success with thousands of pounds being raised for the cause.
Lisa Foard, fundraiser for Winstons Wish, said: The exact total which has been raised by our wonderful walkers is yet to be finalised but we anticipate it to be over 10,000.
