Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, will once again be donning his hard hat as his comments about Sussex's coastal towns continue to draw angry responses from councillors and residents

The newly elected Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, will once again be donning his hard hat as his comments about Sussex's coastal towns continue to draw angry responses from councillors and residents alike.

'Some time before the end of August I will grab a week's leave, like a half-starved sea lion snatching an airborne mackerel, and whatever happens that leave will not be taken in some boarding house in Eastbourne,' wrote Boris, in his Daily Telegraph column. And, while Sussex wasn't the only UK holiday destination to feel his wrath, he still had enough space to turn on West Sussex as well, going on to write, 'I say bugger Bognor.'

Having already been forced to apologise to Portsmouth, in 2007, and Liverpool, in 2004, should Eastbourne and Bognor now be added to his growing list of public retractions?

HAVE YOUR SAY

Do you think Boris has a point or will you be keenly awaiting an immediate retraction? Should he be forced to holiday on the Sussex coast and would you welcome him if he did? What would you say to convince him that he is wrong?
