ROAD RACES

12 April - Brighton Marathon & BM10K

This 26.2 miler is only five years old, but is fast becoming one of the UK’s best road events thanks to the enthusiastic crowds and sea views. There is also a 10k race that sets off before the marathon and finishes on the seafront. Top long distance runner Jo Pavey will start both races.

10 May - Hastings Runners 5 Mile

Now in its 10th year, this great race follows a flat, scenic course along the town’s seafront. Every runner will receive a medal and an optional free massage. Proceeds go to St. Michael’s Hospice.

11 June - Mid Summer 5, near Chichester

This flat five-miler, organised by the Chichester Runners & A.C., is open to all abilities and includes a lap of the Goodwood Motor Circuit. 
The entry fee includes a post-race burger.

5 July - The South Coast Half Marathon, 10K and 5K, Seaford

Breathe in the sea air on one of these coastal races in and around Seaford. All abilities are welcome to race along the flat course, which heads out along the esplanade and back again.

TRAIL RACES

26 April - Bluebell 10K and 10M, near Arundel

This gorgeous off-road race meanders through the bluebell woods of the Angmering Park Estate. Choose between the 10k and 10m courses and refuel at 
The Fox pub afterwards.

3 May - Three Forts Challenge

You have two downland race options at the Three Forts: 
a marathon and a half marathon. The infamous Tough One entails 27 miles of mixed terrain and 3,450ft of uphill running, including the Devil’s Dyke, Chanctonbury Ring and Cissbury Ring.

24 May - Weald Challenge Trail Races, Chiddingly

Each of the Weald Challenge races (a half-marathon, marathon and 50k) start at Chiddingly (south of Uckfield) and follow the Wealdway and the Vanguard Way through fields and woodlands, and over hills.

20 June - South Downs Marathon, Marathon Relay and Half Marathon

This gorgeous downland marathon (and marathon relay) starts in Sussex, at Slindon College, and ends in Hampshire, at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. There is also the option of a half marathon, which takes place in Hampshire.

25 May - Lindfield Village Run and Fun Run

The 10k Village Run is a traditional cross-country course through beautiful Sussex countryside. The shorter 5k Fun Run is aimed at families.
