Militaria auction at Bellmans Auctioneers

On 22 May, Bellmans Auctioneers are set to auction a large collection of militaria and deactivated weaponry, as part of their May 2015 Antiques and Interiors auction (held monthly at the West Sussex saleroom).

Featuring pieces manufactured as far afield as Egypt and Turkey as well as more familiar English and German examples, the majority single owner collection is unusual both in its volume and diversity, and is exciting dealers, collectors and amateur enthusiasts alike.

The majority of the collection dates from the late 19th century onwards, and consists mainly of military issue guns from World War One and World War Two. All guns are deactivated and are offered with their deactivation certificates where relevant. Items of note include lot 2326 (above) – a 9mm German MP40 Schmeisser gun with a 9.5 inch barrel, serial number 1551, which carries an auction estimate of £700-1000, and lot 2363 – a .303 English Vickers heavy machine gun with a 28 inch barrel, serial number B2153, which is expected to realise £500-800. Also exciting buyers is lot 2268 – a German S.A. dagger with double edged polished steel blade, engraved ‘Illes fur Deufchland’, which is estimate to achieve £250-350.
