An indoor table top sale is being held at the East Grinstead Sports Club at Saint Hill Road on Sunday 12 October between 10.30am-3pm.
Proceeds will support the fundraising for the McIndoe Memorial statue which was unveiled by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in June. The statue, sculpted by Martin Jennings, celebrates the life of pioneering plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe who was renowned for his exceptional achievements in the treatment of badly burned Allied aircrew - famously called his ‘Guinea Pigs’ – during World War 2. The statue can be seen outside Sackville College and the appeal has so far raised around £135,000 towards its £175,000 target.
Jacquie Pinney , chief executive of the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation, who is on the steering group for the appeal, said, “I really hope as many people as possible will come and support this event. It will not only help our fundraising but will enable sellers to raise some money before Christmas and provide some excellent pre-Christmas bargains for buyers. And, being indoors, there will be no problem if the weather is poor.”
Table spaces for sellers can be reserved, you will need to bring your own table, by contacting Jacquie Pinney on 01342 414052 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org with cost per table at £10 and buyers will be charged £1 entry, with children free. There will also be a raffle and the sports club bar will be open and food will be available.
