A group of young volunteers from across the UK and Nigeria are becoming familiar faces around Brighton and Hove as they give more than 6,000 hours of support to community projects in the city.

Mayor of Brighton and Hove Carol Theobald was among the first to welcome the Global X change volunteers, aged 18-25, as they arrived after three months' volunteering in Nigeria.

The programme gives them the chance to work on community projects both in the UK and overseas. the team working in Brighton and Hove brings together nine young people from Nigeria with nine volunteers from all over the UK.

They are living in pairs with local families, giving both hosts and guests a unique oppurtunity to learn about different countries.

The charity BAA Communities Trust, set up by Gatwick Airport owners BAA, is providing financial backing for the programme, with march funding fdrom the youth Volunteering charity.
