ONE of the highlights of the British summer season, Glorious Goodwood lived up to its name after five days of top class horseracing and fashion on the Sussex Downs.
The highlight was the Duel on the Downs, the Sussex Stakes, between the two wonder horses of the moment Frankel and Canford Cliffs. Frankel emerged triumphant prompting positive comparisons with another Susssex Stakes winner, the immortal Brigadier Gerard.
Another notable race among many was when Edie Campbell, the Burberry Model, won the Magnolia Cup on Ladies Day. It was the first ever Celebrity Ladies Charity Race to take place at the racecourse. This and the Glorious Ball were all in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Of course, it wasnt all horse racing. More than 100,000 racegoers enjoyed the five days of action.
Celebrity fans included Courtney Love, Pearl Lowe, Sara Cox, Billie Piper and husband Laurence Fox, as well as Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Rowan Atkinson, Beverley Knight, Sally Gunnell, Tina Hobley and Pirates of the Caribbean star, Naomie Harris, to name but a few.
