The toast was to Mouton Cadet when the Mirabelle restaurant at Eastbournes Grand Hotel hosted a regional celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of the famous wine label.
Organised by Eastbourne-based wine merchants H.T. White & Co. in conjunction with Baron Philippe de Rothschild, which owns Mouton Cadet, the black tie event was attended by 30 guests.
They included staff from H.T. White, key hoteliers and restaurateurs from throughout the South East and representatives from two of the Grands sister hotels, Ashdown Park in Wych Cross, East Sussex, and Luton Hoo Hotel Golf & Spa in Bedfordshire.
The event began with a Champagne reception and was followed with a five-course dinner with a menu created by Mirabelle Executive Chef Gerald Roser to complement the Mouton Cadet wines served with each dish.
Julien Wallois, from Baron Philippe de Rothschild, spoke about the history of the wine and to round off the evening there was a special birthday cake and guests left with goodie bags that included a commemorative bottle of wine.
