Champagne and an indoor Italian market greeted select guests at the Arora Hotel in Crawley to mark its 10th birthday.

Since it opened in November 2001 during one of the toughest trading climates following 9/11, the hotel has welcomed in excess of one million customers and, within four years, had to be extended from 312 bedrooms to 432.

With 13 meeting rooms, seating nearly 500 delegates, and the renowned Gallucci Italian restaurant, the hotel has positioned itself as one of the foremost providers of accommodation and meeting facilities in the South East.

Surinder Arora, founder and chief executive of Arora Hotels, said: There was never any doubt in my mind about the potential in Crawley. The success of the hotel became a foundation for growth in and around Gatwick Airport.

At the private celebration was Crawley MP, Henry Smith, who said: A decade ago the new Arora Hotel quickly established itself as one of Crawleys premier places to stay, conduct business and dine. The Arora is both a striking modern landmark and centre of hospitality.
