Whether it’s simply an open field or a yurt in the woods, there’s a great selection of family campsites on offer in Sussex. Here’s our pick of the best...
Billycan Camping, near Arundel
No packing necessary at this bell-tent only site; it’s all set up for your arrival. Riverford Organics can deliver veg and meat, and there’s an on-site masseur. Kids can take art classes or get their faces painted.
Blackberry Wood, near Ditchling
A beautiful site at the foot of the Downs with pitches in shady glades, or glamping in a double decker bus, helicopter or gypsy caravan. New treehouses arrive this summer.
Dernwood Farm, near Heathfield
Pitch your tent in a copse or meadow on a working farm in the heart of the Weald. Or upgrade to a bell tent with a woodburner or a three-bed safari tent with bathroom. Farm meat and other produce is available.
Wicks Farm Holiday Park, West Wittering
Combine camping with beach days at this quiet site, which is a short cycle from the sands of Wittering. There are two playgrounds, a small shop and electric hook-up to all pitches.
Wowo, Sheffield Park
Wapsbourne Manor, or Wowo, is completely geared to families and groups. Pitches range from open field to yurts in the woods, and there’s communal soup-eating and music around the campfire.
