Kerry Grainger is a regular visitor to Hickstead. She used to ride in competitions at the Sussex showground. But her visit on the Saturday of the Longines Royal International Horse Show was something totally different.

She took a flame red dress with her, changed in the car and then won the Hickstead Ladies Day and the prize of a three-day break for two at one of the De Vere Groups luxury lodges at the De Vere Carrick on Loch Lomond, including a 30-minute spa treatment and access to all the five-star amenities.
I never dreamed for a moment that I would win, said Kerry, who lives in Tunbridge Wells. I just wanted to dress up. Hickstead is wonderful. I used to ride here but this is something quite different.
The finalists were selected by a committee which toured the crowd during the morning.
The Hickstead Ladies Day is in aid of St Peter & St James Hospice in North Chailey.
