This summer, there will be a 64-day cycle ride covering the whole coast of Great Britain. The Countrywide Great Tour is heading to Sussex...

The Sussex route

Rye has the honour of being the very final stop during the East coast stage of the Countrywide Great Tour. Riders will leave Margate in Kent on the morning of 10 August and hug the coastline all the way through Ramsgate, Pegwell Bay, Dover, Folkstone before arriving on the historic cobbled Rye streets, finishing at the Mermaid Inn. The next morning, cyclists, will begin to leave the beautiful town of Rye and head for Brighton. On the way, the riders will experience the ruins of Hastings Castle as well as the stunning views at Beachy Head in Eastbourne. The Sussex Heritage Coast will carry participants all the way to Brighton. You can find out more about the seaside holiday destination here.
