It's the highlight of the Sussex sporting and social calendar
Ladies day at Glorious Goodwood has long secured its status as the most stylish racing event of the summer. A sea of floaty floral dresses and panamas flooded the green as race-goers took their places along the track to watch the most hotly anticipated race of the day the Magnolia Cup, where celebrities including Edie Campbell and Sara Cox took the reins in aid of two charities, Spinal Research and Winstons Wish.
Wearing bespoke jockey silks created by renowned fashion designers and models such as Kate Moss and Vivienne Westwood, the celebrity jockeys eyed up their fellow competition before mounting their horses and heading for the track. The race commenced with a dramatic wave of a flag and the ladies were off.
Jewellery designer, Philippa Holland sealed her win with lady detective Harriet Bond coming in 2nd and Channel 4 Presenter Emma Spencer in 3rd. Last years champion, Edie Campbell took 4th position.
After being presented her trophy by actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson, Philippa Holland commented; It was an amazing race, I was terrified but winning it has been incredible and I cant believe how quickly it all went!
The money raised from todays race will be split equally between both charities.
