Remembering the past, looking to the future at The Heathfield & District Agricultural Show

With the clock ticking down to Saturday 24th May, a sense of urgency and excitement grows in the office as the Heathfield Show 2014 draws closer.
The Show is held on a working farm and has no permanent buildings, so is built up in the traditional way with marquees and hurdle pens giving a true country show atmosphere.
It is important to remember that the Show would not be the long running success that it is today without the support of the local community and certainly would not happen without the invaluable help of the army of volunteers who give so much of their precious time, not just on Show Day, but behind the scenes throughout the year. We are also very grateful to all our sponsors and equipment donors who play a key role in enabling the Show to take place.
The Heathfield & District Agricultural Show remains true to its roots and has all the charm of a traditional country show and offers something for everyone. Competitions are held for horses, cattle, sheep, and pigs. We have specialist areas around the Showground for poultry, crafts, and flowers. We have a very popular area demonstrating rural crafts including chair bodging, bee keeping and flint knapping which also has ‘enter on the day’ terrier racing...
There are also over 200 trade stands selling everything from farm equipment and gardening gear to designer clothes and toys, as well as a wide selection of food and drink in our Farmers Market and Food marquee areas.
All of this is complemented by a full day of family entertainment including the ever popular New Zealand Sheep Show, edu-tainment at its best and the hair raising Jason Smyth’s adrenalin tour – gymnastics on quad bikes!
Pre-show discounted tickets are available from www.heathfieldshow.org or various local outlets.
