International photography exhibition comes to Sheffield Park

Sheffield Park and Garden is set to host the 2014 International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) exhibition in June.

On display between 1 June to 17 July, the exibition will showcase a selection of winning entries within the picturesque setting of Sheffield Park’s historic woodland landscape garden.

Visitors will be able to wander in and out of the exhibition enjoying the photographs set against a backdrop of Grade I Listed surroundings.

The photography collection is divided into categories including the beauty of plants, beautiful gardens, wildflower landscapes and the National Trust’s own category - breathing spaces.

Heather Reece, Visitor Services Manager at Sheffield Park and Garden comments: “The quality of the photographs is exceptional with compositions ranging from intimate wildflower close ups to atmospheric panoramas showcasing the beauty of the natural world. We’re delighted to be hosting the exhibtition and hope that visitors find our unique setting adds to their enjoyment of viewing them”.

Talking about the background of the exhibition, Philip Smith, Director of IGPOTY, adds: “Gardens are where nature and humanity meet in harmony. The outcomes of that meeting can be glorious not only for the gardener but for every person who sees that garden. This competition and exhibition is a place where that glory is celebrated. Furthermore, it invites anyone with a camera to participate in that celebration.”

The International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) runs at Sheffield Park from 1 June to 17 July, daily between 10.30 and 5.30pm (last entry 4.30pm). Normal admisison charges apply. National Trust members free.
