8-10 August - Rime Square Peg Contemporary Circus

Sussex Wildlife Trust is celebrating National Marine Week with a splash of fun family events along the coast. Explore the seashore and uncover the magic of the underwater world. There’s wild art on the beach with Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and rock pooling at Seven Sisters Country Park. Meet Making Waves Officer, Nikki Hills, at the popular Wild Beach events where families can discover the secrets of the strandline with a scavenger hunt, build a shelter, 
or make your own kite to fly on the beach.

21-25 August - Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival

The festival features an array of world class professional headline converts across music styles including jazz, blues, soul, Brazilian and funk. Events will take place at selected venues throughout the daytime and evenings. There are free acoustic sessions, street entertainment, a festival outdoor music stage and live music performances at many local venues.

Headline artists include acclaimed jazz pianist Jason Rebello, guitarist Antonio Forcione, jazz singers Claire Martin and Joe Stilgoe. Bass player Herbie Flowers serves up an all-star line-up for a jazz breakfast over the weekend.

6 September - Sussex Downs Charity Ball

Raising money for local causes, 7.30pm. This year’s gala ball is being held at Bignor Roman Villa, this year celebrating its 200-year anniversary opening to the public. Guests will enjoy Champagne and canapés during a private viewing of the villa and its ancient mosaics dating back to the 3rd century. A three-course dinner will be served in the main marquee followed by music and live entertainment.
