BBC Proms presents the BBC Singers in a Proms Preview Concert
Tuesday 28 April, 7pm
In advance of the biggest ever BBC Proms season, the BBC Singers head to Brighton for a FREE performance of music by some of the season's prominent composers which previews some of the main themes of the 2009 BBC Proms season.
The BBC Singers (the UK's only full-time professional choir and regular visitors to the Proms) perform music by Elgar, Henry VIII, Holst, Mendelssohn, Sir Peter Maxwell Davis, Purcell and Stravinsky - composers whose work features prominently during the BBC Proms season in 2009. The Proms Preview Concert takes place at the Brighton Dome, New Road, on 28 April and is conducted by David Hill.
Audience members will also have the opportunity to put questions to Proms Director and Controller of BBC Radio 3, Roger Wright.
So whether it is to listen to some world-class music, gain insight into this year's season, or ask that burning Proms question, this is Brighton's opportunity to hear selected highlights from the BBC Proms 2009 on home turf, and to remind the city's music lovers that the BBC Proms continues to make the world's best classical music accessible to everyone.
The BBC Proms runs between 17 July and 12 September 2009. All Proms are broadcast on BBC Radio 3, a selection are broadcast on BBC 2 and BBC 4, and all broadcasts are available via the BBC iplayer for 7 days after. This year also sees many ticket prices frozen at 2008 levels, promming tickets still only £5, and more free events than ever before, making the 2009 Proms concerts not only a great day out, but also one of the best value-for-money experiences anywhere.
