Cucumber sandwiches are all very well but why limit afternoon tea to just triangles of bread and butter?
At Glorious Goodwood this year, the racecourse has teamed up with The Hummingbird Bakery, the American Style bakery that is bringing the authentic taste of American home baking to Goodwood, and for the first time has created the ultimate Glorious Goodwood Cupcake with its distinguished yellow frosting.
Served alongside a full afternoon tea including a selection of hand cut sandwiches, fruit scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, macaroons, homemade marshmallows hospitality guests in the Charlton Panoramic Club and the Secret Garden will be able to indulge in the ultimate Afternoon Tea.
The Hummingbird Bakery was founded by Tarek Malouf who developed The Hummingbird Bakery concept in response to what he saw as a lack of any places in London to enjoy the taste of truly authentic American-style baking. Today the bakery has become a highly celebrated and iconic brand.
One of the key factors in The Hummingbird Bakery’s success has been its ethos that cakes taste best when they’ve been freshly baked using exactly the same ingredients and techniques as those used in home baking. For this reason, each of the cupcakes served during Glorious Goodwood will be baked freshly each day and delivered to the racecourse in preparation for afternoon tea.
Tarek Malour owner and founder of The Hummingbird Bakery, says “We’re delighted to have been invited by Goodwood Racecourse to design and supply cupcakes for what is sure to be one of the defining events of the summer. The cupcakes have been developed by our Cakes by Consultation team, who specialise in bespoke creations. They’ll be baking and hand decorating Glorious Goodwood cupcakes for the duration of festival to ensure they arrive completely fresh and at their best each and every day.”
Adam Waterworth, Managing Director of Goodwood Racecourse, says “This is the first time that The Hummingbird Bakery has teamed up with a British racecourse and we are delighted to have worked with them and created own personalised cupcake. Our hospitality offerings this year give our customers the finest in fresh produce and we look forward to the return of the Secret Garden and the new Charlton Panoramic Club.”
Glorious Goodwood returns to the Sussex Downs racecourse on Tuesday 29th July through to Saturday 2nd August 2014. Often referred to as the official closing party of the summer season, the festival blends beautiful fashions, a star-studded social atmosphere and Grade A sporting action, to once again establish itself as the summer event not to be missed!
