Ridgeview has been selected to highlight the best of English wines in the UK Pavilion at World Expo, to be held in Milan, 1 May until 31 October 2015.

Ridgeview, who this year celebrates 20 years at the forefront of English sparkling wine production, is thrilled to be included in Mosimann’s exclusive offering within the UK Pavilion. Not only will Ridgeview’s Bloomsbury be available throughout the Pavilion, their Cavendish was also served at the UK Pavilion Inauguration evening on Wednesday 15 April. Two other wineries were also selected: their neighbours Bolney Estate and Chapel Down in Kent.

World Expo is an incredible event with huge global profile, and this year’s theme centres on “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The Expo will host 145 nations and will run for 184 days on an exhibition site covering one million square meters. Milan Expo is expected to welcome over 20 million visitors with millions more being reached online. The UK Pavilion will use the finest seasonal produce to showcase the best of British food and drink to an estimated 3,000 daily visitors.

The inclusion of Ridgeview’s sparkling wines within the Mosimann’s catering offering emphasises both the importance of the English wine industry to UK trade and exports, as well as highlighting Ridgeview’s position as one of the pioneering wineries exporting their quality wines across the world. Ridgeview CEO Tamara Roberts notes: “To be a part of this historical event in Milan, and for our wines to be showcased alongside such passionate producers from throughout the UK, is something we are extremely proud of. It underpins the importance we place on working with great partners across the globe. We are really looking forward to showcasing the quality of Ridgeview and English wines to the world.”

Ridgeview has also been selected as a winner of the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) competition to visit World Expo with a delegation of 13 other food and drink producers from the South East. Tamara Roberts will be visiting Milan with UKTI from the 5-7 May which will include a market briefing hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy. This is a wonderful endorsement of the work the team at Ridgeview have achieved exporting and representing their winery.

As Mosimann’s were selected to cater the UK Pavilion, they were tasked with sourcing the best produce that the UK has to offer, “Mosimann’s always tries to use local produce, so this wasn’t too much of a challenge, however we have recognised what an important opportunity this will be for small companies, artisan makers and British start-ups. We have really made the effort to seek out new regional companies and individuals that would bring the regions and seasons to Italy during the course of this international event.”
