Since opening 25 years ago, St Wilfrids Hospice has cared for more than 11,000 people across its catchment area which covers Chichester, Bognor Regis, Selsey, Arundel and Emsworth.

The Hospice offers specialist palliative and end of life services including a 14-bed inpatient ward, a Day Hospice, bereavement counselling and care for patients in their own homes.

We look after people with a variety of life-limiting illnesses and at any one time care for around 200 people, with all our services provided free of charge.

The Hospice is supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who enable us to provide high quality care to patients and their loved ones, thereby helping fulfil our ethos People at the Heart of Care.

Every day it costs 16,055 to run our specialist services and with a Government grant of 14%, we depend on the generosity of the public to enable our much-needed services to continue.

Q&A: How important is a legacy donation to your charity?

Gifts in Wills (legacies) represent a high percentage of St Wilfrids Hospice income every year; in 2011 legacies 38% was attributed to legacies.

It costs 5.8million annually to run the Hospices range of services and without the income from gifts in Wills we quite simply would not be able to meet the demand for our services.
