According to Amy Kindred of AKMillinery there’s a hat to suit everyone, you’ve just got to find the right one for you. She has been making hats for nearly two years, having trained in London under couture milliner Sophie Beale. She names her favourite creation as “a custom piece I made for a client for a race day. She actually went on to win a best dressed competition wearing the hat – it was made from various straws and trimmed with burnt peacock and pheasant feathers, and she was absolutely delighted with it.

“My job is to help people choose the right shape and style for them, and there’s absolutely no shame in trying on 50 hats until you find the right one. Hats come in literally all shapes and sizes. I often have people say they don’t suit a certain type of hat, but it’s usually just because the hat isn’t the correct size or the brim is too large or small for their face shape.”
