The World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) swings into action at Hastings Adventure Golf in Sussex, June 6–7.

The international crazy golf competition has attracted teams from India, China, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, Finland, Portugal, the UK and reigning champions, Germany. They will compete in the two-day, seven-round tournament on the Pirate course at the Hastings complex.

The event is the highlight of the World Minigolf Sport Federation’s international calendar with a prize fund of over €2,000 up for grabs.

It’s a golf masters, but not as you know it! Dodging cannon fire, explosions and splashes and a giant talking skull with a habit of eating golf balls, the British team has high hopes of being victorious this year.

Host nation, Team GB, is entering 16 players across four national teams. Great Britain captain, Sean Homer said: “The standard of the play in the UK keeps going from strength to strength and with the course having hosted the British Championships in May, our preparation has been excellent in our bid to finally take the team title at the World Adventure Golf Masters.

“As well as our most experienced international players, I’m delighted to see a number of our Great Britain players making their full International debut at this year’s WAGM. We are in good form and looking forward to taking on the best players from across the world when the competition tees off in June.”

The tournament was contested in Sweden last year. It returns to the UK this year and promises to be the biggest WAGM since its inception in 2011. The event was last played in Hastings in 2013 with Gerrit Below from Germany winning the overall individual Masters tournament in his first appearance at the event.

Hastings Adventure Golf, established in 1974, is the largest mini golf complex in the country and is fondly considered the home of mini golf in the UK.
