Archant

Each month Emily Bamber and her family test-drive the best family days out in Sussex. This month
it is the turn of the East Sussex town, Seaford

RAIN

Dino’s Soft Play

Tire them out at the Downs Leisure Centre, which has one of the largest indoor play centres in the area. Kids can rampage around the three-storey play frame, shoot down the double slide, test themselves on the assault course and kick around the mini football pitch. There’s also a dedicated under-fives area and it’s all air-conditioned, so you won’t swelter in summer.

OR SHINE

The beach

Seaford has one of the most family-friendly stretches of beach in Sussex, with free parking, a wide promenade for scooters and bikes, and plenty of places to stop for ice cream. Head to the eastern end of the beach for rock-pooling, or if they prefer to build sandcastles then stop at Frankie’s Café on the promenade – the kids can dig in its beach sandpit while you order coffee, pull up a deckchair and catch some rays.

FAMILY LUNCH

Café Wave

Dig into some Dino Chunks, Jurassic Sausages and Dino’s Fishy Friends at the Downs Leisure Centre.

Osbourne’s Fish and Chips

Stop off at this chippy on Church Street on your way back from the beach – fans rave about the light batter.
