Have fun and instil a love of fitness in your children by exercising as a family. Hazel Sillver suggests great ways to get fly with kids of all ages

Pre and Postnatal Yoga, Worthing

Yoga is one of the most relaxing forms of exercise available, so many mums-to-be and new mums find it a lifesaver amidst the stresses of pregnancy and new family life. Sally Parkes offers classes (and teacher training) in both prenatal yoga, which calms and prepares your body for birth, and postnatal yoga for you and your baby.

Dog Walking, Shoreham

Consider getting a four-legged family member from the Dogs Trust rescue centre in Shoreham. It’s a responsibility, but can hugely enrich family life. Research by the Dogs Trust shows that 42 per cent of families take more exercise together if they have a dog; the study also found that having a dog can teach children care and responsibility, provide them with four-legged friendship and make them more physically active.

Water Sports, West Wittering

Doing water sports as a family provides great fitness and a social life, as well as the basis for lots of active overseas family holidays. Get in the water together in the beautiful lagoon off West Wittering Windsurf Club’s sandy beach. X-Train’s friendly instructors will teach you to windsurf, kitesurf or stand-up-paddleboard (SUP); there are kids’ courses and clubs on offer, as well as adult tuition and family sessions – including SUP instruction on the eight-person paddleboard.
