Archant

With The Great British Bake Off returning to our screens this month, we took a look back at how some previous Sussex-based contestants got on...

.

Zoe Sugg - The Great Comic Relief Bake Off: Series 2 (2015)

YouTube star and Brighton resident Zoe Sugg took part in the 2015 series of The Great Comic Relief Bake Off alongside Jonathan Ross, Abbey Clancy and eventual winner Gok Wan.

On the menu for this special episode: 24 cupcakes followed by 20 profiteroles, topped off with the ‘Showstopper’ challenge... a Marble “Building” Cake.

.

Kate Henry - Series 5 (2014)

Series 5 was without doubt, a memorable one! It’s difficult to look at a Baked Alaska in the same way ever again after the infamous ‘Bingate’. The series also saw Kate Henry from Brighton achieve a very respectable 6th place as well as winning Star Baker in week 5.

.

Cathryn Dresser - Series 3 (2012)

Appearing on series three of The Great British Bake Off in 2012, Cathryn finished in fifth place, leaving the show just two weeks before the final. We spoke to Cathryn earlier in the year about her shop in Handcross.

.

Sarah-Jane Willis - Series 3 (2012)

Joining Cathryn and the rest of the gang in 2012 was another local baker! Sarah-Jane of Midhurst finished in joint 6th place alongside Ryan Chong.

.

Miranda Gore Browne - Series 1 (2010)

The very first series aired way back in 2010 and it’s safe to say it was the start of something very special! Miranda from Midhurst made it to the final week and finished in 3rd place just behind Ruth and eventual winner Edd.
