Lavant House School Raspberry Pi national finals 2015 results

PUBLISHED: 15:22 27 March 2015 | UPDATED: 15:22 27 March 2015

Lavant House School’s Raspberry Pi club girls travelled to the Science Museum in London on Tuesday for the national final of the PA Consulting Raspberry Pi Competition 2015.

A morning was spent exploring what the museum had to offer and then it was down to the serious business of impressing the judges and other visitors from the press and industry, including Maggie Philbin, the BBC technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones and Clive Beale of the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The team enjoyed demonstrating the product, which involved plenty of smoke. They also did a great job of explaining how they designed and built Smoke Pi and discussing wider applications and potential future enhancements to their product. The judges were particularly impressed with the fact that they had produced a product, rather than simply a prototype.

Whilst they didn’t win, Lavant House School’s team were runners-up in the 11-16 category. There were over 2000 entries to the competition nationwide, so this is a fantastic achievement. The team returned to school with a box full of interesting peripherals to experiment with after Easter.
